This was a great tour. We had Smiley as a driver and he didn't disappoint. He was selected the best driver out of 75 others and you can tell why when on his tour. Smiley was very knowledgeable and I don't think we passed a building or monument he didn't address or tell you some history about. If Undercover Boss came to take a tour, this is they guy they select to teach all the drivers tour guides. The White House did select him to take out of country dignitaries when they wanted to take a trolley. Don't worry, he will show you.
The 6:30pm (last tour) tour was amazing and you get a few stops to get out and see MLK, the Marine Corps Memorial and Lincoln's memorial with the Vietnam memorial. The cost is a bit high at $64 for the two and half hour trip, but Smiley help make it worth it. It's the best way to see it all in a short trip to DC. The daytime hop on/off would be better if you have more time. We flew in just after 2:00pm and after and early dinner we took an ride-share to the trolley start. Get your souvenirs before the late tour as it will be closed when you get back.
We took two tours while we were in town - the daytime hop on, hop off tour, and the "Monuments by Moonlight" tour. Both were thoroughly enjoyable. We particularly enjoyed the friendly jokes and narration provided by tour hosts Sarge and Mr. Kelly. But the most notable part of our experience was how the staff went above and beyond for us - we got caught in traffic in the Uber on the way to the Welcome Center before the Moonlight tour, and missed the bus by 15 minutes. The staff at the Welcome Center loaded us into a van and drove us to the trolley's first stop so we could still join the tour and enjoy the remainder of the evening. Five star customer service; would highly recommend.
Wow! Got a free tour through my hotel. Drew was an excellent driver and guide. I highly recommend this if you only have a short amount of time to spend in DC. Was cool to be at some of the monuments in the dark too.
Be aware - the tour was almost 2.5 hours, alot longer than I expected.
First time visiting DC, and so glad we booked the Trolley Tour! I was able to enjoy sitting back and get photos without worrying about traffic. The drivers were all very good with their telling about sights and history. It was easy to hop off and back on with not a long wait. It was difficult to get good photos when the window plastic coverings were down. We sat in the back where they were rolled up.
Our tour guide, SMILEY, showed us an awesome time! It was so convenient to sit back and see the sights while getting an informative tour and never having to fight traffic. Smiley was comical and courteous. If ever you're in the area, book one of the tours with this company. The night tour we selected didn't give us the "hop on, hop off" option, but they did make 3 stops at well-known monuments for photo opportunities.
MJ was a great tour guide.
Even my teenage son enjoyed it.
The trip was in an open air trolley, but there were 3 bus fulls of tours that night so other groups were in a fancier bus (get there early if you want that option, I think).
The tour started with a drive around the capital and east side of the Mall with commentary from the driver, then we had 3 stops for closer looks:
The first at the MLK Jr memorial & FDR memorial, with the Tidal basin view, about 25 minutes stop, the second at the Korean War memorial, Lincoln memorial (also best view of the Washington monument), and Vietnam war memorial, about 35 minutes. The third at the Iowo Jimo Marine War Memorial, with a drive along the Arlington cemetery, a quick stop, but a beautiful memorial, and something you wouldn't normally see unless you went out of your way.
A great tour to orient yourself to the city and see the most important sites.
We did a night tour with Sasha and had a blast! Saw a variety of memorials at night which took about 2.5 hours. Sasha was very informative in an entertaining way... hopefully you're fortunate enough to get her as your tour guide when you …
My review describes the Moonlight Monument tour in the winter. I would not recommend this tour on a cold winter night. The bus does not have a good heating system, and it was cold. Without a way to warm up on the bus, the stops to get off …
